Additional Child Safety Measures

Hey Teens!

You may  have noticed that we have added a new child safety feature that will assist in keeping this website safe.  It is automatically enabled for all users.

All users must specify their age before engaging in private messaging with another user.

This feature helps prevent inappropriate interactions between users of significantly different ages. When enabled, the system checks both users’ ages before allowing private messages.

The Protection Rules are as follows:

  • Users 18 or older cannot interact with users under 16.
  • Users 20 or older cannot interact with users under 18 and will be targeted to be banned from this website.
  • Users between 13 and 17 can interact with other users under 18.

If the system determines that the age difference does not meet these guidelines, the interaction will be blocked. This feature is designed to increase safety for younger users and reduce the risk of inappropriate contact within the platform.

Online interactions come with real risks, and every person has a responsibility to use the internet thoughtfully and cautiously. While our website works to provide a safe and respectful environment and we work with law enforcement agencies around the world, we are not your parents/guardians nor are we law enforcement.   We cannot monitor or control every individual action online. Users should remain alert to potential dangers, protect their personal information, and make careful choices about what they share and who they engage with. For minors, guidance and supervision should come from parents or guardians, who play a crucial role in teaching safe online behavior, setting boundaries, and staying involved in how their children use the internet. Our platform is one part of a broader safety picture, but personal responsibility and proper parenting are essential for truly staying safe online.

Teen Chat and Covid-19

Hey Teens!

Hope everyone is doing well.  It has definitely been a rough couple months.  By now I trust all of you have been practicing social distancing and enjoying your stay at here at teen chat.    There isn’t a better place to kill time and loneliness than here at our website.

This is just a friendly reminder that we should maintain this cautious approach until this deadly virus has run its course.   If you do go outside, it is advised to wear an approved mask and be sure to always wash your hands thoroughly upon your return.

We do hope that everything will return to some normalcy soon but the reality is it will take some time.

Stay indoors and stay safe everyone.

Protecting yourself online

Hey Teens!

We are posting this important message as a friendly safety reminder to all the people who use our teen chat rooms whether out of boredom or to connect with new friends or random strangers.

It is very important to remember that one of the biggest causes of leaving yourself vulnerable to such things as cyber attacks, identify theft, cyber theft, cyber stalking, or other internet crimes is from the sharing of personal information with others.     Victims of such events all had one thing in common.  That is, they shared personal information.   We have received numerous emails from people over the years and if they had practiced the safety protocols we set forth with our chat rules, they would not have been victims.

What should i do?

Under no circumstances should you share personal information with others online.   This includes your real name, telephone number or address and real profile photos of yourself.  You do not know who is on the other end.  Is the person you are chatting with, really who he or she says they are?   Unless, you have actually met this person before coming here to chat with them, we would always be wary that the person may not be who they say they are.     Even if they have a profile picture or send you photos of themselves, that does not mean they are who they say they are.  Cyber criminals often create fake identities to gain your trust.

How about my social media accounts?

Even if you give your Snapchat or Facebook account information, that is another way these criminals can gain access to your personal information by looking at your photo and event history.   So, never give out your social media information to a stranger.  If you are private chatting with an individual and he/she gets too personal with their questions or asks you for your social media accounts, kindly refuse their request.

Conclusion

The bottom line here is, is it really worth it to go through the trouble of being blackmailed, cyber stalked or any number of horrible internet crimes that we will even get into?   We didn’t thing so.  Keep personal information private, please.   There is on reason you cannot have fun in our chat rooms without the need to share personal information.

School Shootings – Again?

Hey all!

By now you  probably have heard about the latest school shooting in Florida which happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine’s Day.

If this is not a cry for stricter gun control than i don’t know what is.   It is just crazy to think that a teenager who has shown erratic or mental behaviour was able to pass a gun background check system in February 2017.     He was able to get an AR-15.

Another silly thing is, why do people even need an assault rifle?  These are things we see in video games like Call of Duty.  Not something we teenagers should be possessing.   For hunting?  For self defence?  C’mon get real.

As it looks like gun ownership will not be going away anytime soon, we must all do a better job of keeping an eye on people around us.  If you know of anyone demonstrating strange violent behaviour (even if it is stated on social media) , you must be prepared to report this individual to your school or the local authorities.

We need to put an end to this senseless violence once and for all.

Sorry for the rant, but these school shootings are really starting to piss a lot of people off.

Safety in our chat rooms.

Hello all!

This is a quick reminder to all  of you that it is very important that you keep safe when communicating online.  Not just this website, but any website for that matter.    As you probably are aware, we have a page specifically dedicated to chat safety that you should have read already.

Alot of time teens feel invincible when they are on their computer.  They feel nothing can go wrong.  That cannot be further from the truth.   There are many manipulative and sneaky individuals out there that will take advantage of you.

Always stay vigilant when online.

Happy chatting!
