There is an issue where the chat isn't loading on older devices. I have a kindle ereader, and I am now unable to chat on here or a sister site due to the update.
I'm assuming that it's the code for the new update that doesn't work for my ereader. I'm not saying that i really want the code to be reverted to the old version, i'm just making it aware that the chat won't work on very old devices.

I have taken a look at the new 11.0 update, and yes, lots of things were upgraded to help with mobile as well as making the site faster, which means that most older devices might not be able to handle the new load and strain of the site

before the update, it ran pretty well with my ereader, it actually ran tc better than other sites, but when it updated it just straight up showed as a blank screen (i couldn't open notifications, pms, or friend requests, but i could click on my pfp in the top right corner and top three left lines, only things that actually opened were the buy vip and buy gold options)
and then i made the mistake of clearing the cookies on my ereader. i found out that the login buttons don't work for my device.

If you know the name of the device, I can take a look and see if all that is needed is a settings change, but to be honest, I don't think so.
This update is still new, and we don't know everything, but I can take a look if you want.

kindle ereader 10th generation paperwhite
and no nothing in the settings of the device itself can fix it

So I looked into this, and the short answer is — the Kindle Paperwhite is just not going to work it for the chat.

Think of the chat like a live TV signal. Your device has to stay constantly connected to keep up with messages coming in. The Kindle wasn't built for that at all — it was built for reading books, so the screen, the browser, and the hardware underneath are all designed around something slow and calm, not something live and constantly updating.

The screen itself is a big problem. That paper-like display Kindles use physically can't refresh fast enough — every new message would cause a visible flash while it redraws. In an active room that's happening nonstop, it would drive you crazy.

On top of that, the browser that comes with it is really outdated, and the chat needs a modern browser to even load the room properly, let alone keep up with real-time messages. And even if those two things weren't issues, the Kindle just doesn't have the power under the hood to run it smoothly — it would be slow, glitchy, or just crash out.

Now, with the new 11.0 update, things actually got faster and better optimized for mobile, but that also means older or weaker devices are going to feel that strain even more than before.

TLDR: The Kindle Paperwhite wasn't built for live chat — the screen, browser, and hardware are all too weak to handle it. Even more so now with the 11.0 update. Grab any basic phone or tablet and you'll be good.

i mean, ive been using kindle ereaders for chat sites since early 2021 and i've been used to the flashing when it refreshes and the constantly crashing lmao (and my current kindle paperwhite has been used since late 2024, i am currently using it to type right now I CANNOT BE STOPPED)
is there a chance that the site would actually run on a kindle scribe, if the browser is new enough on it? last i had one, it ran tc perfectly without crashing, and could open youtube but not play anything, of course. this was back in late 2024 so take the info with a grain of salt
i might be able to get a phone but i'll very rarely be able to use it (as in on weekends)
