I'm starting a new school. How should I act on the first day to be popular

Really nervous. I want to be friends with the cool kids. By this, I don't mean the stereotypical jocks or popular mean girls. Just nice, cool and smart people cuz let's be honest, they are actually popular unlike the mean and pretty ones shown in the movies. I also want to avoid the weird, childish and dumb snitches (You may not have heard about these kind of people but trust me, they exist in every school. At least in India)

I don’t think it’s necessary to focus so much on being ‘cool.’ The whole idea of what’s cool is kinda overrated, and it’s usually based on what others think. I’d rather focus on being true to myself and building meaningful relationships, instead of trying to fit into a certain group or image that might not really matter in the long run.

Focusing on being “cool” in school often leads to unnecessary pressure and a temporary sense of belonging. The idea of what’s considered “cool” changes quickly, and what’s popular today may not matter in a few months. Instead of trying to fit into an image that doesn’t truly represent who you are, it’s more important to be authentic and build genuine friendships with people who respect you for who you really are. True success and happiness don’t come from popularity; they come from pursuing your own passions, growing as an individual, and finding people who share your values. Ultimately, trying to maintain a “cool” persona can be stressful and distracting, making it harder to focus on the things that really matter in life.
Chasing “coolness” can affect you as a person in several ways. It can lead to a loss of self-identity, as you might start to shape your actions, thoughts, and interests based on what’s popular rather than what genuinely resonates with you. This pressure to fit into a certain mold can also create anxiety, as you constantly try to meet others’ expectations or live up to an image that isn’t truly yours. Over time, this can make you feel disconnected from your true self, leaving you unsure of who you really are outside of the “cool” persona. Additionally, it can lead to shallow relationships with people who are more interested in the idea of you than the real you. Ultimately, focusing too much on being “cool” can prevent you from forming meaningful connections, pursuing your own goals, and fully experiencing personal growth.

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it too much 😂 Just talk to people you like and see who you get along with.

You don’t have to act cool or try to impress anyone. Just start with something simple, like talking about a class, a teacher, music, games, whatever. Once you start talking, it usually gets easier.

And don’t stress too much about finding the “cool” people either. Sometimes you randomly become friends with someone you didn’t expect to like that much.

Just be yourself and give it some time. You’ll probably find a few people you click with.
