I broke my mom's favorite sandals. Should I lie about it?

Last night, I went with my friends downtown to attend a bridal shower. I was so drunk that I forgot to return my mom’s sandals that I borrowed the day before. Earlier this morning, I was so shocked to see that one of its pair was broken; its heels was torn apart. I asked my friends how this happened and they told me I ran from the party and since I was too drunk, I tripped on the sidewalk of the building where the event took place. I’m so nervous now. How do I tell my mom about it? Should I just lie? I know she’ll be very mad since the sandals were handmade in a foreign country, which a friend gave her as a gift on her birthday. Help!

First of all i m really sorry for a very late response.
And secondly, you should tell your mom about what actually happened, cuz to hide one lie, we sometimes have to speak thousands of lies. And u too know that truth always wins. So just tell your mom what happened, n u need not worry bout that. We all humans, doing mistakes is our job, so do not het nervous about that.
